Current life

The origins of the Amicale
In 1942, Captain DEVOS returned from captivity following a serious illness. On discharge from hospital and after his recovery, he decided, with the help of the prisoners’ families, to help them.
The Amicale du Fort de TANCRÉMONT was thus created.
However, the site, still owned by the Belgian Army, remains in the hands of the Association des Anciens du Fort.
In 1974, Amicale became an A.S.B.L.
In 1995, a stele was erected in commemoration of the 19 days of resistance.
The Duty of Memory
The Last Fort Fighter left on 21 August 2020 at the age of 100!
Today, more than ever, it is our duty to perpetuate the memory of our Elders through our activities.
We are a team of volunteers, made up of women and men.
ALL, we contribute, at our level, to the survival of the site, both in terms of maintenance, administrative, and physical during visits.

We're commemorating...
29 May: the date of the surrender of the Fort,
21 July: National Day,
flexible date in November: The Sacred Relay,
15 November: Feast of the King,
on 4 December: Feast of the Holy Beard.
-> (first Saturday in December for the Amicale)
